Fukaya Pre-School

Fukaya West Pre-School |
Fukaya Pre-school and Fukaya West Pre-school were established in 1954 at the site of Kotain Temple. About 170 children, aged between 0 and 6 years old and school-age children with disabilities come to our school.
In this new century we would like to build the existing foundations, which is offering the best care for our children.
We hope to accomplish this by offering: Part time child care, child care in holidays, child care support, child care for children with disabilities etc, weather it's an hour, a day, or a year we will provide a loving care, based in the philosophy of buddhism religion.
Opening hours
from 7:15a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

What our flag symbolizes
The outer circle was designed with the name Fukaya in Katakana characters, just like the trademark for Fukaya city. The shapes that look like flying seagulls symbolize children making a circle hand in hand.
And in the center is depicted the character "ho" from the word "hoikuen", that is nursery school.
It means that we shall all hold each other's hands making a circle around the nursery school, valuing health, kindness, and cheerful smiles |
| *The Japanese language has three sets of characters: hiragana, katakana, and kanji. |

Playing in English

Playing in English (English Lessons) & International Exchange
The main objective of our english lessons is not only learning words or grammar but also interacting with foreign culture introduced by songs and games. We think this would be the first step for learning to communicate beyond language barriers regardless of one's race and gender.
Crystal River Kindergarten
We visited Crystal River kindergarten in Florida in January 2002, which the principal's family has been developing friendship with. We hope to have enjoyable exchange with people all over the world.
Saint Paul School
Our sister school in Guam. We visited Saint Paul School in Guam in August 2003, and in the presence of the children of both schools we officially affiliated with each other. As part of our international exchange activities, the children have been sending letters and video letters to each other. With "the world is one" as our motto, we hope to continue our efforts to expand a circle of smiles, praying for world peace.
Cultural exchange with Russian children
Moscow Children's Ethnic Dance Ensemble "Besnushki" came for Fukaya International Child Festa, which was held at Fukaya City Cultural Hall and Joshi Park on October 18, 2003. They presented their special show and co-staged performance with our children.

Let's come in contact with nature
|
|
As part of our programs, we offer the children of modern days who rarely have a chance to get close to the soil the opportunity to experience growing vegetables through playing with it.
The joy of being close to nature, the smiles that appear on the children's faces when the vegetables are harvested, and the lunch with their vegetables in it all seem to be part of the fun.

At the sports festival

The physical strength-developing project: we are fostering "the development of strong, healthy bodies" through exercise that is appropriate for the growth of each child.
"Physical exercise games "Class White (5 year olds), Class Green (4 year olds), and Class Red (3 year olds) have a class for "physical exercise games" twice a month with the help of a P.E. teacher from Nihon Shakai Taiiku Shinkokai (JACPA). They experience first hand what it is like to build strength and the fun of playing with their friends while moving their bodies. This program allows each child to grow up tremendously both mentally and physically.
They also enjoy track, mat exercises, vaulting horses, horizontal bars, jumping ropes, gymnastics for Class White (5 year olds), Bara Balloon for Class Green (4 year olds), and so on.

Class White (5 year olds) and Class Green (4 year olds) have "Swimming Lessons" as part of our program to build children's physical strength.
Although feeling overwhelmed by the size of the pool at first, the children gradually get used to water and eventually start to join others eagerly, laughing and splashing.

Our emphasis is on learning through doing, we have rhythm exercise suitable for their age during the morning meetings and usual hours, in order to develop their sense of music and rhythm, and skills in expression, while having fun. 1 and 2 year olds mainly clap and move as reflex exercise. 3, 4, and 5 year olds dance along the music and the piano, and enjoy singing, which will lead to the healthy growth of their mind and body. We play many cute songs and the children enjoy dancing and moving their bodies while naturally acquiring a sense of rhythm.

Good job!
|
Aiming to get the children interested in writing letters and help them learn how to write hiragana and katakana characters, 5 year olds (Class White) enjoy calligraphy as part of fun. They start to grow interest in letters and try their best while struggling with the brushes and Chinese ink.

Through Chie-no-mi Games, 3, 4, and 5 year olds experience "thinking, discovering, and creating with their hands", by making use of the materials that are familiar to them. The children look forward to every session as well and eagerly participate in it.
3 year olds
We encourage them to build confidence that "I can do it".
4 year olds
The children are encouraged to discover and think about new things through struggling with them.
5 year olds
We take into considerations individual differences in how they try, think, and proceed.

We are prepared for diverse needs concerning childcare, such as temporary care, evenings care, and weekend and holiday care, as well as care for children with disabilities(japanese).
Since 2000, the schools have been open twice a month for mothers who raise their children at home to offer them a chance to discuss their problems with child raising and meet other mothers. It is called "Heart PoPo".
Fukaya Pre-school and Fukaya West Pre-school are now operating as school that is based in the local community, a "child care support center" that can satisfy any needs that may arise concerning child care.
